work I've done and things I've made

This page is an archive of anthologies I've published, events I've produced, and writerly organisations I've worked with. Some might call it a resume. I'll update this as I run about town sticking my fingers into more pies.

2011 - present Freelance Editor/Proofreader for proof edit copy
proof edit copy is my business name for those times when I do some proofreading and editing work.

2010 Events Team Member for the Australian Poetry Centre and Goolwa Poetry Festival
As a member of the Australian Poetry Centre Events Team I provided front of house assistance for poetry events at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne. I also created structured documentation for Goolwa Poetry Festival, which was said to be "the poetry event of the decade" and had over 150 participating artists.

2008 - 2010 Reviewer for artsHub.com
I occasionally write online reviews, specialising in theatre with a particular focus on critiquing lighting. I try to keep these reviews anonymous, as my main source of income is as a theatre technician, and being anonymous means that I can write honestly without worrying that I'm going to have to work with someone I've offended later on down the track.

2008 - 2010 Curator of Sospeso Readings
I coordinated, curated, and MCed a monthly poetry reading, collaborating with the Australian Poetry Centre and Caffe Sospeso. For me Sospeso Readings was all about providing a space for new poets to be comfortable, so the open mic was a big part of the reading. My role included scouting for artists, coordinating publicity, liaising with the venue, and securing sponsorship.

2008 - 2009 Jobs Coordinator at artsHub.com
I managed content for this well known arts industry website, focusing on the Jobs, Classifieds, and Arts Directory sections of the site. My role included sourcing and uploading relevant content, and editing content to the specifications of the style guide. I also wrote engaging introductions to weekly bulk e-mails, and had a hand in developing improvements for the site.

2008 - 2009 Secretary of Melbourne Writers' Theatre
My role with MWT was many-faceted, and included collating and sending out regular newsletters, managing events, taking minutes, and acting as Literary Manager of the script selection process in the annual monologue competition and short play festivals.

2008 Co-Editor and Desktop Publisher of Poles Apart Poetry Anthology
A large team of editors worked to publish an anthology of poems by the students of Holmesglen TAFE. In addition to proofreading, making editorial decisions, and managing communications between the team, I also used my desktop publishing skills to create the final version of the book.

2008 Play Selector for Short and Sweet
I read and rated an enormous number of plays for Short and Sweet play festival, also providing advice on each play to the final selection committee.

2007 - 2008 Assistant Editor of MelBorn 08 and MelBorn 07 Playbooks
For two years running I assisted in proofing and publishing this collection of short plays which is annually published by Melbourne Writers' Theatre. Both books have since sold out.

2006 Board Member of the Booranga Writers' Centre
As a board member I assisted in the decision making process for the writers' centre's goals.

2004 Founder and Editor of TIDE
I was part of a group who founded TIDE, which is now a prominent Illawarra literary journal.

2003 - 2004 Editor of Fyshe
As Editor of Fyshe, the newsletter of the Illawarra branch of the Society of Creative Anachronism, I liaised with writers, edited, proofread, and published.

2001 - 2003 Freelance Writer for Tertangala
I wrote terrible, stilted, articles and reviews for the student paper of the University of Wollongong before deciding that it was best that I not pursue a career in journalism.
